BIOGRAPHY

Dimi Ralev is a musician with extensive experience in performance,

composition, teaching and sound production. He holds two degrees from Goldsmiths, University of London. Bachelors in Popular Music Studies, specialising in performance and composition, and Masters in Creative Practice, focusing on the depths of musical creativity, including studio work, writing music for various forms of media and theatre, as well as psychology and philosophies of music.

His music career began in 2004 after a performance for over 1000 people in a theatre with his school band and continued performing all the way through with various acts. During his time at Goldsmiths, Dimi had the privilege to perform music, written by Matthew Herbert, together with the great Eska Mtungwazi and the Goldsmiths Vocal Ensemble. He played shows alongside amazing new talent, such as Ifan Dafydd, James Blake, Lightboxes, Devid Dell'aiera, Si Cliff and many others. Dimi recorded guitar for various productions of artists, such as Leo Mann, Maskik Records - JJ Gullo, Kanuga Records - Riccardo Albini-Trissino, Byron and more. He also produced work for media and theatre collaborations during his masters degree period. He toured the UK, co-wrote and recorded a number of EP releases with his progressive band Enteric between 2009 and 2012, after which he focused on his own projects with occasional freelance appearances. He organised a number of successful jam sessions, which gave birth to his current project 'Da Mo She Knowz', with primary focus on the spontaneous creation of improvised music.

He participated as live sound engineer and producer at a number of events hosted by Sound for Humanity, Hope Meets Art and Moshin'all Sessions.

Highly involved with technology, he is also developing an Ableton live production setup, which allows control over multiple loopers, real-time sound design, creative effects, live mixing and more with the purpose of producing music in an autonomous way and in live situations.

Dimi takes keen interest in studying the essence of sound as a physical phenomenon and much of his time is spent researching the effects of music on people and society.

His most recent work will be released independently at the end of 2019.

He has been teaching individual and group classes in guitar and music technology since 2007 and has built exceptional means of communicating knowledge effectively, allowing the students to learn what they wish, whilst attaining a solid foundation of what they need.
